Frustrated WITH BAD GATE STARTS?

STOP WASTING YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON ATTENDING ANOTHER CLINIC JUST TO HEAR THE SAME OLD GENERIC COACHING TIPS

A simple system to fix slow, inconsistent gate starts

This is for riders and parents who are tired of guessing.

If you’re here, chances are you’ve already put in the work.

You’ve tried the usual advice:

Tighten your core, pull harder, rotate your wrists, throw your shoulders forward, and smooth out the second and third pedal.

  • You consistently sprint.

  • You lift weights.

  • You’ve done the same drills that everyone says “the pros do.”

And yet…

  • Your second pedal is still slow.

  • Your starts are inconsistent.

  • You’re still getting beaten out of the gate.

This isn’t a work ethic problem.

It’s almost certainly a movement problem.

What This Program Actually Does

The BMX Gate Start Transformation is a movement-based system designed to fix the root causes of slow and inconsistent starts.

Instead of piling on more drills or strength work, we:

  • Clean up how your body aligns over the front pedal

  • Teach you how to sequence movement efficiently

  • Build repeatable mechanics that actually transfer to the gate

This applies whether you’re:

  • A 40+ rider frustrated with plateaus, or

  • A parent trying to help their young racer develop good habits early

The 3-Phase System

I have built a system of progressive on and off-bike exercises to help the rider move in a more optimal and powerful way. This is NOT a cookie-cutter program. Each rider will perform a detailed movement assessment to help me choose specific exercises just for them.

Rather than some random drills, sprints, and coaching cues. I have built a cohesive system of teaching and progressing riders in building better movement. Rather than just throwing more sprints into the program, I start them exactly where they are. Improve necessary mobility. Strengthen certain movements and develop a rider's foundation for continued progress.

Phase 1: Alignment

Learn how to position your body so power actually goes into the pedals instead of leaking away.

Phase 2: Repeatability

Reinforce those mechanics so your starts look the same every time, not just on good days.

Phase 3: Performance

Layer speed, sprinting, and strength on top of solid mechanics—without breaking them.

You will seamlessly progress through these phases in 12-week training blocks. With each phase, you build better movement, strength, consistency, and confidence in your gate starts.

FAQ

  • Most clinics and coaching sessions are just too generic — I know because I've taken them and coached plenty myself. The truth is, coaches have barely scratched the surface when it comes to understanding the human body during a gate start.

Few programs out there have real structure or progressions, and to my knowledge, none incorporate specific off-bike movements designed to build better movement on the bike. Gate Start Transformation is a deliberate progression of exercises and drills, built to create cohesion and help you reach your goals.

This system was forged through countless sprint and gate sessions, hours of study, and a lot of trial and error — all of which eventually led to breaking bad habits. My experience working with riders of all ages pushed me into some unconventional territory for a BMX coach, and what came out of it is what I genuinely believe to be one of the most useful gate start programs out there.

  • Yes! That said, this program is probably best suited for riders 10 and up. Younger children are still growing, and I'm not fully convinced all of the off-bike exercises are necessary at that stage — something I'm still giving thought to. Many of the exercises also require a solid level of focus to execute properly.

That said, I'll always do my best to scale things to each athlete's level. If you feel your child is ready for a more detailed program, I'd love to welcome them to BMX Gate Start Transformation.

  • After purchasing, you'll receive an onboarding email asking you to record about 7 movements. These off-bike clips help me assess how you move, and I'll also review your sprints and gate starts from a couple of angles. Combined with your training history, injury history, age, and goals, all of this shapes a program built specifically for you.

  • Most of the workouts I program are fairly short — I believe in frequent, quality movement over long, fatiguing sessions, especially early on. You'll also receive a recommended weekly schedule for each type of training day, giving you the flexibility to fit it around your life.

  • A few inexpensive pieces of equipment are used — things like foam rollers, bands, steps, squat wedges, light weights, and sprint stands. As you progress further into the program, access to a gym or a solid home setup may become helpful.

  • It's currently $299 — and honestly, I think it's a great deal. But ultimately, that's for you to decide. Personally, I would have paid twice that to avoid years of struggling with my starts.

A tremendous amount of thought has gone into building a complete, progressive program that actually gets results. It will fast-track your ability to break bad habits and move more efficiently off the gate.
